AP Statistics 2025-2026 Class Review
Posted by Felix Rosenberg on 07/07/2026I would say that Ms. Chan is an excellent math teacher. What I appreciated the most about her teaching style was how she was very very clear with expectations regarding her rules surrounding deadlines. The fact that the expectations were made clear from the beginning of the course was helpful throughout the year when it came to getting homework done on time. I also appreciated how receptive Ms. Chan was to questions regarding the material. Not only did she consistently ask each week if anybody had questions but there were plenty of opportunities for students to get their questions answered by either Ms. Chan herself or her TAs throughout the week. It was also very helpful that we did not wait until the months leading up to the AP exam to start practicing exam specific questions. In fact, we practiced an exam style Free Response Question every week for the entirety of the school year. Once we were closer to the exam, Ms. Chan also provided comprehensive AP prep resources to review everything that we covered during the school year.
The only piece of constructive feedback that I would give this class is regarding the breakout room assignments. Each week students were split into breakout rooms in order to work on a free response question. As I mentioned, these questions were incredibly helpful in preparing for the AP exam. However, most of the time at least a few of the students in these breakout rooms would not do the work or just do it themselves and not work together in a collaborative way. This is by no means Ms. Chan's fault and I appreciate the idea behind the students working together. However, it did not seem to work the best in practice.
Finally, I would add that I am not a math person by any means. In fact, I plan to go into the humanities after school. BUT, Ms. Chan made AP Statistics easy to understand, and for me to succeed, which I truly appreciated. I think that regardless of your affinity or lack thereof regarding mathematics, I would recommend Ms. Chan's AP Statistics class for students who want to challenge themselves with subject matter and achieve a good score on the AP exam itself.
Interactive and Well-Organized Class
Posted by Isabella Allora on 06/24/2026Ms. Chan is a great teacher and is very organized in everything she does. The course is structured well, and it is always clear what assignments need to be completed and what is expected of students.
Although I wasn’t able to attend many of the live sessions because of my sailing schedule, the sessions I did attend were always very helpful. She does a great job of reviewing the topics we have been learning during the week and explaining anything that students may still be confused about.
One thing I really liked about her teaching style is how interactive the live sessions are. She often calls on students and encourages participation, so it feels like you are actually communicating with your teacher instead of just listening to a lecture. She also frequently divides the class into breakout rooms and gives each group a set of problems to work on together. For example, one group might work on the first few questions while another group works on the next set. After giving us time to collaborate, she brings everyone back together and the class goes over the answers as a group. I found this to be a really effective way to learn because it gives students a chance to talk through problems with their classmates and then get feedback from the teacher afterward.
Overall, Ms. Chan creates a positive learning environment where students can actively participate and ask questions. The live sessions are very hands-on, and even though I couldn’t attend many of them, I always felt that the ones I did attend helped me better understand the material. I would definitely recommend her class to other students.
Would Recommend!
Posted by Christopher Kyong on 06/23/2026I would definitely recommend this class to any student that wants to challenge themselves a little each week and gain a lot of beneficial skills for the future. I found myself using statistics outside of class and all that time I spend studying for quizzes for the class it really pushed me to grasp it and utilize it outside my life. Therefore, I would really recommend this class to any student
Great AP Class
Posted by Nathanael Lee on 06/23/2026This class definitely helped prepare me for the AP exam very well. All topics were covered well and thoroughly with lots of real question walk throughs in Ms. Chan's videos. This class not only prepared me to solve AP stats questions, but it also broke down and helped me understand the broader concepts as a whole. I found Ms. Chan's feedback on assignments to be very clear and helpful. Her feedback was tailored not only to help me understand the concepts clearly, but also noting places where I could lose points on the AP exam.
Would Definitely Recommend!
Posted by Inae Kim on 08/20/2024Ms Chan is an amazing teacher and her class prepares you excellently for the AP exam! Her class moves at a good pace, giving us students plenty of time to learn concepts well while also providing way more time to review for the AP exam than any other teacher has ever given me! I generally spent around 1-2 hours a day on this class. The course material Ms. Chan used to teach us is also extremely helpful (especially Statsmedic!!) for learning and studying for the AP exam. By the time I sat down to take the exam I felt calm, and the AP exam did not cover anything that I was not confident with. I would definitely recommend this class.
Great Class
Posted by Bergen Tustin on 05/31/2024This class was a good class with challenging yet comprehensive curriculum that covered all of the different parts of statistics. The course work is definitely manageable as long as you are willing to work hard. If you are interested in taking statistics or any other STEM classes, I would recommend this class as it will prepare you not only for statistics exams, but also for other STEM classes.
Excellent Statistics Class
Posted by Jesse Mindel on 07/17/2023This AP statistics class greatly furthered my knowledge of statistics, thanks to Mrs. Chan's method of teaching. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn more about statistics beyond basic high school math classes, as Mrs. Chan did an excellent job of making sure that all concepts were easy to understand. I personally felt that the coursework was easy to manage and not too much, and when I took the exam, there was no problem that I didn't know how to solve!
Very thorough preparation
Posted by Jennalie Hemphill on 05/05/2023Ms. Chan's AP statistics class prepared me extremely well for the AP exam. I think this is largely due to Ms. Chan's method of overpreparing her students. For example, some of Ms. Chan's chapter tests were harder than the
actual AP exam. However, the difficulty of her tests motivated me to study harder, and accordingly, the exam seemed very easy.
A Very Thorough and Interesting Class!
Posted by Emily Kamphuis on 05/04/2023I would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in learning about statistics! Mrs. Chan is an excellent teacher and the recourses she has prepared for this class are very detailed and helpful. Mrs. Chan's video walkthrough's of the textbook material are full of helpful explanations and examples. The assignments are all relevant and interesting and have real world-connections. Class times were always very helpful in reviewing the material, and there were lots of chances to work through practice problems with other students. The course finished in the beginning of March, and so there 2 full months of review; which means that by the time you get to the exam, you are so ready and prepared for the exam. I took the exam this morning and felt so prepared and confident.
Very good Stats Class
Posted by Raj Gupta on 08/13/2022 8I did feel prepared for the AP exam. I put about three hours a week into the course. I thought the bead example was the most valuable. The course did enhance your interest in the subject. My communications with other students were very valuable. A hard-working, diligent student would do well. I would recommend this course for other students.
Great preparation for college!
Posted by Emma Martin on 07/06/2022As a student interested in research I found that AP Statistics with Mrs. Chan made me even more excited for a career working with data analysis! I especially loved the textbook, which combined examples from real-life studies and data sets with practical applications that high school students can appreciate. It's very encouraging to take a math class that actually explains how I might use each obscure formula in the future! With a 5 on my AP exam, I feel prepared and excited to head towards the next level of statistics once I enter college.
Solid Preparation for AP exam
Posted by Amelia Abney on 07/06/2022Ms. Chan's class was the best preparation I could have had for the AP Statistics exam, on which I was able to score a 5. The assignments in the class were challenging, but did not create too heavy of a work load, and the structure of the tests were very similar to that of the real exam, on a smaller scale. Class time was productive and engaging, with an emphasis on clarifying confusing topics and learning to quickly, accurately, and clearly solve free response questions. Communication with Ms. Chan outside of class could be difficult, but any issues were mitigated by the detailed list of assignments provided on the class page at the beginning of each week. All in all, AP Statistics was a well taught, comprehensive course which prepared me well for both the AP Statistics exam and any future practical applications of the topic which I may come upon.
Review of AP Statistics (Amelia Chan)
Posted by Elijah Paik on 06/08/2022I feel like the course material was helpful in understanding concepts to a degree and ultimately being prepared for the AP Exam. I was mainly learning from the textbook as I felt the lectures and videos were less engaging and difficult to get through while not learning much. The material in the tests did serve as good preparation for the AP exam, and I was able to take note of the concepts I needed to study the most. I am still conflicted on my interest in statistics, but that may change if I take an in-person AP statistics class. During many points in the school year, I felt like I was struggling to find interest in statistics, and while I do think learning statistics provided unique insight on how the world works and how we can use certain knowledge and information to our advantage, I don't exactly feel like this is something I'd want to return to, depending on what more there is to learn. I did not find communications with other students to be particularly valuable as we mostly just proposed answers between each other and little else. I would likely not recommend this course to other students unless they consider themselves fit for online school. I don't think I would've done well in this class if I had a normal course load since I was only taking about three courses at a time.
Can't recommend enough
Posted by Kayla Reilly on 06/06/2022I really enjoyed taking AP Statistics with Ms. Chan. I thought the live classes were lots of fun and very informative. I also found the video lectures to be extremely helpful and thorough. I found sapling very easy to use for homework. I always knew if I had any questions or problems I could reach out to Ms. Chan. I think this course did a great job at preparing me for the exam and all the extra notes and materials provided such as StatMedic were extremely helpful.
An excellent statistics class
Posted by Julia on 06/02/2022I really enjoyed this class! Ms. Chan explains everything very clearly. She is very thorough and I got good feedback on my FRQs. The AP exam tips were also extremely helpful. I would recommend this class to any student who has an interest in statistics. It's very easy to ask questions and get help. The textbook and sapling assignments also give feedback so you can understand where you went wrong.
Parent Approved!
Posted by Michelle Marble on 06/02/2022As a parent, I know how important honest reviews of courses are in deciding which one to choose for your child. As I read through reviews of Ms. Chan's AP Statistics course, what resonated with me was the fact that she prepared the students well for the AP exam and that she took time to explain concepts thoroughly. My son took this AP course and another one this year, the first two he had ever taken, and I am so pleased with the outcome. Ms. Chan clearly outlines her expectations and deadlines for the course, and is available to be messaged if there are any questions or concerns. The weekly Zoom meetings were an important tool to hammer home concepts and the activities completed during them were popular and enjoyable. I did not need to help him at all during this course, which increased his independence and prepared him for college coursework. There were several different platforms that he had to toggle between (Sapling, Canvas, etc.) that were a bit confusing for him in the beginning, but after the first week, he had the system down. Canvas is a popular platform that colleges use, so I felt it was a good thing for him to be exposed to it and learn to be comfortable with it now before college starts. He found Statistics to be a very interesting subject, having only minimal interaction with it in previous math courses and felt very well prepared for the exam. I would 100% recommend this course with Ms. Chan to organized students who stay on top of their assignments and do not fall behind.
Great Class!
Posted by Stephen Marble on 06/02/2022I really enjoyed the AP Statistics course this year with Ms. Chan. I felt more confident in my performance on the AP exam than other students I talked with. Compared to the other AP course I took, the course load for statistics was lighter, however, I still feel Ms. Chan prepared us very well for the exam. The Zoom meetings were especially fun, with my favorite part being the occasional activities. I had never taken a course in statistics before, but this course was really interesting to me. I'd recommend this course to someone who is organized and can stay on top of the assignments.
Great class!
Posted by Caleb Lee on 06/01/2022I really enjoyed this class, and I felt well-equipped to take the AP exam by the end of the course. The workload is relatively light and very manageable as long as you don't procrastinate, and there are a multitude of resources that are readily available to students who need a bit of guidance. Unfortunately, I could not attend the live sessions since I live in Asia, but Ms. Chan does an excellent job of clarifying difficult problems and providing helpful exam tips and pointers during the recordings. I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone who wants to go for a 5 on the AP Statistics exam.
Totally hands off!
Posted by Loretta Pioch on 05/31/2022As a parent, I'm am very grateful to feel that I canNOT give much of a review. That may seem a strange review. However, my daughter is a homeschooled senior, and I literally had absolutely NOTHING to do with her experience of this course. This was my desire. My background is in physics and engineering, but I did NOT have the bandwidth to field the questions that can pop up all the time, especially when I'm in the same ROOM with the child. This course provided her the necessary means to work through her difficulties withOUT my help. I am eternally grateful.
This course was masterfully taught by https://www.mathamelia.com/, and while i wasn't able to take the AP exam due to unfortunate circumstances, I felt very well prepped. I put in a good amount of work per day, but not more than I would have ideally and it didn't push out other necessary schooling. Group extra credit activities were enjoyable and team-building. I didn't know much about statistics before this class, but now my interest is piqued. I love how this class has so many real-world applications and connections, widening my scope to understand the world around me. All students were helpful and supportive in studying and conversations. I would 100% recommend this course to other students. If you are interested in psychology, statistics, economics, or any number of other areas, this class will help deepen your understanding of important concepts and calculations. If you are willing to put in the work, then you will succeed!
Very satisfied parent!
Posted by Suis Kusnadi on 02/19/2022I have two kids in Ms. Chan's AP Statistics class this year, and I have been very happy to see their level of engagement with this class. One time I happened to be around during an online session, and I heard for myself how much she involved the students in the discussion and how she made sure everyone was on the same page. She works very hard for each student, and I won't hesitate to recommend her classes to anyone.
