Mrs. Chan is wonderful!
Posted by Danielle Seagrave on 05/07/2025I am a mom of four teenage boys, and we are currently in the twelfth year of homeschooling. It is not an overstatement to say that we have had COUNTLESS teachers over the years, including in-person/co-op facilitators, tutors, college professors, student teachers, live online teachers, and the more-than-occasional asynchronous class with an obscure teacher to boot.
This was our first year with Mrs. Chan's Honors Algebra 2 class (as well as AP Homeschoolers). I was so pleasantly surprised with the entire school that we will reenroll again for my third and fourth children. First, AP Homeschoolers truly provides a wide variety of classes with first-rate teachers. Mrs.Chan was one of two teachers we had for the 2024-25 school year, and she was excellent! Her class uses a solid online program (Pearson) with math labs/homework that effectively quiz concepts while allowing several chances to correct errors before final submission. Mrs. Chan's response time to inquiries was fast and timely. I found her to be open to parent and student questions, always available, passionate about math, and (most critically), incredibly fair, sprinkled in with a good deal of grace along the way. Her bio is worth a perusal (math genius!) and, given the wild success of her own homeschooled children (Ivy League schools!), Mrs. Chan is one of the rare and uniquely positioned teachers who has modeled the life of a successful homeschool parent AND teacher.
I was a little nervous about having my son take an online math course without bi-weekly live teaching, but the course has been set up in such a way that ensures a good outcome if your student watches the videos and makes an effort.
Thank you to Mrs. Chan and AP Homeschoolers for a great class. She truly is a wonderfully kind and caring teacher!
Algebra 2 Review

I have always found your video so helpful, and highly interactive class ambiance that keeps us all in focus. Your teaching has truly elevated my passion for Algebra 2. You have always been patient in answering my questions and willing to guide me whenever I am confused. You have set a good math foundation for me so I can progress to challenge harder courses next year. I am so thankful to have you as my teacher!
